On Rope 1, Inc. offers several courses which are taught by Bruce Smith and his associates. Our most requested courses are the Level I and II Rope Technician Courses and the Basic Vertical Skills Course. More advanced and custom courses are also available.
2011 Schedule of Courses:
Basic Vertical Class
Student spends 18 hours on rope learning, practicing, and overcoming all the challenges one might encounter while descending and ascending a 200' drop. Student should bring gloves, boots, carabiners, helmet, and a Class I personal seat harness. On Rope 1, Inc. will provide a rack and climbing system for each student.

Classes begin at 5:00 p.m. on the first day and run until 10:00 p.m. The following two days run from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Level I Rope Technician Class
Student learns and practices a large list of skills on technician level rope rigging. The class includes the application of principles, mathematics, forces, and anchoring, and concludes with the construction and operation of high lines that bring into play many of the necessary skills outlined by NFPA 1006 and NFPA 1670 (Standards for Rescue Technician Professional Qualifications and Standards for Operations and Training.) Student should bring gloves, boots, helmet, and a Class I personal seat harness.

Level I/II Rope Technician Class
This intense 5-day course will cover all of the 26 NFPA 1006 Rope Rescue Technician skills and objectives. We will cover force vectors, safety factors, torque forces, anchoring, back tie forces, litter raises and lowers, and much more. The depth and level of knowledge imparted in this course is unique to the entire industry.
This course is not another "Get-to-know-your-knots course". You will spend at least 4-5 hours per day rigging, and conclude the week with an 8-10 hour day of rigging on Friday. If weather permits we will also conduct a night operation. Vertical skills a must.
Minimum class size is 15, Maximum is 26 Cost: $695
